Question: This is another question about another med my doctor tried to give, but it now has this warning on it and it's not on my son's or ever was on the past prescriptions?
My doctor told me that it was approved but all of a sudden this is on it Not approved for daily use FDA warning that it can't be as a daily use because the warning implies this. I have a perfect prescription history of never abusing any thing and for many years I have never or would never use or ask for any increase of any prescription. I had an accident in the 1970's while riding a bike on the main highway to South lake Tahoe, California. I was ran over while cruseing at only 20 miles per hr. When a driver coming towards driveway to enter my path but didn't stop but did a XXXXXXX stop which is not stopping just sliding into the XXXXXXX This tore off my heal and gave me a fracture of my tibia and fibula. I was young and healthy so the specialist that saved my leg told me I shouldn't feel any pain at my age of 28yrs but when I got older I most likely would. He was wright. When I started feeling a burning sensation and pain in my leg. I was given 3 Vicodin a day at age 65 and its worked. I sometimes take only 21/2 a day. Is this in danger of loosing this for I am not addicted to it for at 72yrs old it is not s a threat. The clonazepam is being used to help be sleep. So I only take two types of meds that have any issue with society and I was smart enough to share my maid dot drown it in medications. This is supposed to help me sleep and I take 1 pill at night when needed and take 1/2 a pill at least four days and the 1/2 3days at night. The doctor should use another pill not give me this. It never has gave me any side effects because I take only as much that helps but not enough to get addicted. This is now going to hurt me my me not being able to sleep Do agree with this type of treatment for me with the doctor I see? Is this safe because I take so little when it is normally 2 a day for others. I did direction because I believe it's not all true? If there is another similar pill that would be safer? If you remember it is Phenobarbital as we discussed on my other Question. It is safer so shouldn't I drop this pill and request the one I know it is safer than Clonazepam !mg.

Brief Answer:
Medications should help the patient.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for asking me directly.

When it comes to sedative medications, choices are several and should be tailored according to patient's needs.

There is not a specific sedation drug that work for all people, some respond better to barbiturates and experience less adverse effects, while others feel better with benzodiazepines.

Addiction is another issue to consider when it comes to both types of drugs use and, I congratulate you about staying in the lowest dose possible.

This way you save yourself from a lot of trouble.

Since you felt better with phenobarbital, I don't see any definitive reason in your case why not to continue with it, unless your Doctor is forced to do so regarding to locally applied laws and regulations.

In conclusion, if you don't feel that clonazepam is helping you, there is no point of continuing it, phenobarbital remains a good possibility.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.
