Suggest A Blood Pressure Medication Which Does Not Increase A Person's Anxiety

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Dec 2019
Question: I have a hard time navigating this site. I just read the answer from earlier today, and thought I should mention that other BP meds greatly increased my anxiety and wanted to be sure the suggested one would not do this. I cannot take attenolol nor hydroxyzine. Even trying to take zoloft made me extremely anxious.

the suggested meds metoprolol and alprazolam are something I know nothing about; would either of those likely increase my panic attacks and anxiety? It is very hard for me to take most things. I took a tiny piece of lasix this morning for the swelling and it seemingly made me feel bad. I am not sure if this was it. I am to the place that I fear eating or taking anything. Going back to the original digestive issue, I thought it might have resulted from Medifast products, and I did eat one of those today, also. Feels like my heart is beating fast or pulsing, but think it is digestive. Please list possible side effects of the mentioned meds

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I've gone through your question carefully and would explain that increased anxiety is not a known adverse effect of Metoprolol or alprazolam.

Both these drugs can help reduce anxiety, especially alprazolam which is specifically used for the short-term management of anxiety ( it has no direct effects on high blood pressure).

Regarding atenolol, hydroxyzine, it seems that you do not tolerate them, as you experienced such adverse effects.

Lasix is not known to cause anxiety. However, I would recommend trying low doses and increase slowly, as it's helpful against leg swelling.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri
