* Do you have associated pain and fever along with swelling?
* Any history of minor trauma or injury?
* Is the swelling hot or warm to touch?
* Is this the first episode happening like this?
* Do you have swellings in any other joints?
* Is the swelling present on the bone or on the joint of the finger?
* Are you able to bend the finger at the involved joint?

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
As per the answers given, the swelling is of acute onset,no signs & symptoms of any systemic illness, no involvement of other joints in the body, no signs of any inflammation. All these findings exclude either infective or inflammatory cause. And the only possibility being ALLERGIC REACTION to
* any food item that has been taken
* any simple medicine consumed earlier
* any insect sting ( propably mosquito bite )

Take any Anti histamine preparation for 1 or 2 days and hopefully it should the swelling. If not, consult your treating doctor for further workup.

Hope this helps. Good day
