Started Vaginal Bleeding With Abdominal Cramp After Period. Pregnancy Test Negative. Worrisome

default

Question: Bleeding between periodsSo I had, what I thought to be a period about 2 weeks ago. Friday night I discovered I was bleeding again, a lot heavier then last time. I had horrible cramps and was bleeding a lot. It's been 2 days and I've been bleeding just as much, with 'cramps' that don't feel like normal cramps, nausea, dizziness, headaches, back pains and no energy what so ever. I took a pregnancy test to make sure I'm not having a miscarriage and it came up negative. What could it be?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I am trying to solve your problem.

First of all, you are suffering from sudden heavy vaginal bleeding with abdominal cramp following your period over 2 weeks ago. Here, you should undergo one blood test for beta HCG level & Trans Vaginal Sonography (TVS scan) to exclude product of conception if any. Early home pregnancy test may give negative result.

In exclusion of conception, other reasons are uterine fibroid/ endometrial polyp/ pelvic endometriosis/ adenomyosis/ hormonal imbalance associated with using OCP etc which may present with above features.

Pelvic examination along with some relevant investigations like pelvic ultrasound scan, thyroid profile, endometrial biopsy following D & C etc are needed to pin point the diagnosis.

Proper treatment depends on underlying causative factor. Therefore, I suggest you to consult with gynecologist regarding this and take suggestive measures according to test reports.

Do the following things:

1) Take healthy diet and drink more water/ juice, eat fresh fruits/ vegetables.
2) Take iron & vitamin supplements with diet. Try to avoid stress/ anxiety.
3) Maintain genital hygiene & take sound sleep with complete relaxation.
4) Take some anti-spasmodic medication (like drotaverine) and some hemostatic agents (like tranexamic acid) to alleviate presenting symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wish your good health in future.
