Skin Lesion, Does Not Itch Or Burn, Spot Between Scrotum And Inside Of Thigh. Is It Herpes?

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Jun 2012
Question: I need a doctor to look at a picture.
I think I might have herpes, but I am unsure.

A girl I have been seeing for around 4 months now, went to see the doctor because she has irritation- (she said it kind of felt like a yeast infection) for the past 3 months.

Her doctor said it is more likely to be herpes than a yeast infection every month.

This has got me paranoid, so I searched every inch of myself when I came across this. It doesn't itch or burn, and I can only tell it is there when something rubs against it. This spot is between my scrotum, and the inside of my thigh.

What do you think?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the picture attached with the query.
The skin changes near your scrotum do not seem to be related to herpes. These are more likely to be due to dermatitis or eczema.
Most of the times such minor rashes improve with the topical cream containing an antifungal- cotrimazole, an antibacterial- neomycin or mupirocin and a steroid- hydrocortisone. You can get such a combination over the counter at your local pharmacy. Most of such rashes show improvement on thrice daily application for one week.
If you do not have good results I think you need to consult a good dermatologist who would do a scraping of the skin and look under the microscope to see what might be going on in order to consider other treatments.
In the meantime, I recommend you to use general cleanliness measures to avoid any infection in that area. Avoid scratching or handling the region with barefingers.
Do not worry. The lesion you have is not like herpes.
Hope this answers your query. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
