default
Posted on Tue, 21 Mar 2017
Question: My husband fell and hit his nose. His glasses caused a cut which bled. But he has a nose bleed too. 2 lg blood clots size of a quarter came out first. He is on Plavix. Should he discontinue? He only had one functioning carotid artery with a 50% blockage.

Brief Answer:
dont discontinue Plavox

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

He should not discontinue Plavix since the risk of thrombotic incident is much higher than the risk of rebleeding.

He should just compress his nose and lean forward for several minutes if it bleeds again. If there is unstoppable bleeding then he should see ENT doctor for further management but Plavix should not be stopped.

Wish you good health. Regards
