Sharp Pain In Chest While Walking, Coronary Stents In Arteries, Medication For BP, Heart Problems ?

default

Question: Over the last few weeks, when I do a 4 mile walk, I get a sharp pain in my left-central chest. The pain begins on a small hill then usually subsides. Later in the walk, on a even more steep incline, I don't usually have any pain.
Yesterday, the same walk, the pain arrived earlier in my walk, was more intense to the point of real discomfort, and although it did subside, the pain returned on the steep incline.
In 2004 I had a coronary stent implanted in my left anterior descending artery. I am 53 years old, 250 lbs, and taking medication for high blood pressure. After the implant in 2004, I had several years of more or less constant pain in my chest. A follow up angiogram showed no sign of problems with the stent or other coronary arteries. I am poor and do not have a Doctor to advise me here. Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for your query.

The repeated feeling of pain at the same point makes me suspicious of transient ischaemic problems in the heart muscle.

This needs a thorough cardiac work-up including ECG and Stress ECG which do not cost you more but give the information needed to evaluate your condition. For that you will have to take the services of a hospital.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol are the major factors causing such problems. Do not delay further in investigations and till then avoid the heavy work.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available if you have any further queries.

Regards
