Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Myelocytes are neutrophils ( white blood cells) at an intermediate stage of differentiation.

We do not normally see these in the peripheral blood smear, but finding one as an isolated anomaly in an otherwise healthy young person does not mean there must be a malignancy .

Neutrophilic myelocytes are commonly seen in acute infections and in conditions affecting the environment of the red bone marrow. Neutrophil precursors (e.g., promyelocytes, myelocytes, and metamyelocytes) >10% of white blood cells should be investigated.

Your level of myelocytes are insignificant and can be ignored however, you may keep a watch on them by getting repeat tests

I hope it helps however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hi,
I recently had my GP show concern over a series of blood tests taken as a bases line.
I am 54yo - resting heart rate 44bpm typical blood pressure (taken each morning) is aroun 110 over 67-74ish - her concern was with my neutrophils being so very low. i am exceptionally healthy and do not get bacterial or any type of infection. Have a relatively good immune system. Had a doc check this out about 20yrs ago and they even did a bone marrow test - do not know the results as I got bored with the whole process when noone knew why my neutrophils were low.
I also had an exercise induced cardiogram about 10yrs ago and that was fine.
(Q) - Is there any known link between neutrophils and heart disease. I ask because if i am honest there are times when extremely overtired that I feel a like my heart is labouring and it is typically when it is going as low as 41 sometimes?
I exercise 5 mornings per week and weigh 62.5 kgs. I have polynesian in me and hence weigh heavier than some - I am 5'4" or about 164cm.

How does your immune system work on viruses?

Academic question. Does the immune system cells ever detect anything that they kill by themselves? I know that damaged and defective cells that cannot self-repair request the immune cells to kill them. I know that infected cells request the immune...
