Pregnant, Had Soreness In Armpit And Noticed Lump. Suggest?

Question: Hi, i had sorness in armpit past few days and today discovered pea sized lump. i am 39weeks pregnant. Age 32.

Dear patient,

Thanks for your question. Given the location and symptoms, it is likely that it reflects an enlarged axillary lymph node, which can come from inflammation anywhere between that side of the chest all the way to the fingers (even a small scrape or cut); nipple irritation can cause it as well.

My best recommendation would be to monitor the symptoms over time, overall pain and "lump" should regress within 4-6 weeks; if it persists then it may need to be investigated further.
