Brief Answer:
Due to weight bearing on the feet.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

Pain along the sole of the feet results due to flattening of the arch of the foot or due to excess bearing of weight. As your wife is reaching the last trimester, the pressure effects begin to show on the feet. Mineral deficiencies and vitamin deficiencies create tingling, numbness and cramps.

Please ask your wife to avoid prolonged hours of standing or sitting. Intermittent rest with elevation of the feet, keeping the feet for sometime alternately in hot and cold water helps to ease the pain. While sitting foot rest may be used. Foot wear with arch supports can relieve the pain while standing and walking.

Proper nutrition, correction of any deficiencies also helps. Rest in bed for at least 2 hours during the day and 8 hours during the night is a must. Rest in left lateral position helps to improve blood circulation to the baby.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.
