Question: Age: 28
I am presently taking an antibiotic course of Linezolid for treatment of mrsa infection
Symtoms: Penis foreskin painful and red (blood red it seems as if skin has cracked open) and a little swollen, this redness is also coming to the penis head with time.
- white lumpy discharge under the penis foreskin
- it becomes wet even if I dry it completely by its own in inside of the foreskin

Treatment:
I am applying clomitrazol 1% cream since last 2 3 days, thinking it can be a yeast infection
but no relief yet.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query.
Yes, you are right. Prolonged antibiotic treatment may predispose the tendency of getting infection with candida albicans. This is a yeast and normally present in our body as commensal.
Kindly post the pics of affected lesion, if possible.
Candida albicans is part of the normal environment of the skin, mouth, and intestinal tract, but becomes troublesome when in overgrowth.
The yeast growing on your penis will remain dormant because of the temperature on the outside of your body.
Have you undergone blood sugar level? Candidiasis is common in diabetic patients.
There are several natural cures for a yeast infection of the penis.
The first thing to do when you find out that you have a yeast infection is to stop eating sugar. Anything with sugar can make the infection worse.
Organic coconut oil is good for reducing the infection. It can be used topically and orally.
Gentian Violet which is usually used for thrush can usually be purchased in most pharmacies and it works great for a penis yeast infection. It is purple and stains, so it should be used carefully.
Plain yogurt can help to ease the irritation associated with a yeast infection of the penis and it can be found almost anywhere.
Yeast infections aren’t very XXXXXXX as long as they are treated.
You have already tried clotrimazole, but you can take ketoconazole/ terbinafine / itraconazole ointment.
At times resuming sex may also help as vaginal fluid prevents the growth of candida.
