Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.

If there is no bleeding, there is nothing to be concerned about.
The vein might be inflamed due to the iv insertion.
You can apply ice packs to the vein.
There is also an ointment called thrombophob that be applied to the affected area.

I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

My husband is 3 months post op Thyroid Cancer. Thyroid was removed as well as 6 metastatic nodes. 148 mc Radioactive Iodine was given & I131 scan showed only residual tissue. He currently takes his synthroid 150 mg. But it has been ineffective. 6 weeks ago he had an onset of pain in tailbone. Which has progressed to severe pain & inability to stand or walk correctly. Along with this his RBC Hemocrit & Hemoglobin levels are low, but his Platelet function times are elevated. He has had several CBC W/DIFF labs. His PFT has been up to 206- 247 ranges & his PFT EPI up to 179. They are consistently high with the exception of 2 different times being normal out of 6 draws. His ENT just removed tonsils with bleeding complications. He believes something is wrong & is sending him to Hematology at Vanderbilt. My question is could the bone pain be related to his levels? Lukemia? Or is that not usual or is it two separate issues such as a blood disorder and possibly a discount issue?

have been diagnosed with grave s disease. Taking camazol, initially 6 X 5mg a day but reduced to 2 X 5mg a day due to bad body aches & muscles pulls/cramps. Anyway to minimise muscles aches, etc while still on camazol, & also should water intake be monitored as it contains iodine? 47 years old, 158m tall & abt 50-53kg now. Suffered weight loss, fast heart rate, tremors, nect goitre before med. Now most physical symtons disappeared but bodily functions limited (ie. unable to lift legs slightly higher without muscle pull, cannot swat or sit on floor, can only sleep on back n not sideways, etc). Pls advise

Hello, Im 41 and I have been on metropropolol for about 3years( its a low dosage of 25 milligrams). My heart doctor has told me that down the road i will need a valve replacement. Recently I went off the meds because I was feeling worse on it rather than better. Symtoms being: extremely tired feeling, flu like symptons, hair falling out. So I stopped taking the meds. I did call the my heart dr prior to doing this and he told me to get my thyroid tested. If it was a thyroid problem I was to discontinue the meds. Do to job loss I didnt get the test and I orderd iodine tablets to jump start my thyroid. Its been a month or so since taken the iodine. I have seen some remarkable improvements. My breast dont ache, skin and hair is much shinier, etc. My problem was last week right before I got my period I felt terrible in my body. My chest felt so heavy and right before I would fall asleep it almost felt like I would quit breathing so I would jump awake. Due to no sleep or just a few hours in that week the problems got much worse. My legs felt heavy and in my head I felt confusion. Also when I tried to sleep my arms and hands would get numb and my skin would feel like I was on fire. The only relief I had was to sleep on a recliner in a upright position on my back. However once I started my period all of these nasty symptoms went away. Im not looking forward to my next period; it almost felt like I was on death s door so to speak. Any advice would sure be much appreciated.

I am female aged 64. Yesterday I noticed a foul smelling discharge from my belly button, it smelled liked blue cheese but stronger. On inspection I have a very red and sore navel, it is really uncomfortable. I have been cleaning it with Iodine since then, is this the correct treatment? I live in Spain by the way.

I have a nodule on my neck for a few days now . My doctor think it could be my thyroid . She gave me a prescription for a CT scan with contrast . Wouldn't the contrast affect my thyroid even more since it has iodine ?
