Brief Answer:
Seems to be allergic in origin...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Though I don't see triggering factors, her symptoms seems to be related to allergies. Allergic rhinnitis is common when exposed to common allergens such as dust and pollens. There could be other factors to trigger allergies. I will insist that she visits a doctor (ENT specialist) to confirm the cause.

It is more easier to prevent allergic conditions than treating (curing) it. I will recommend she keeps a dairy and notes all factors that were involved whenever she gets fresh symptoms. Over a period of time, it will help her identify the trigger allergens causing the symptoms and avoids it. In general, I will suggest she avoids going into dusty environment including cleaning old storage rooms, boxes, etc. It is also better to avoid visiting parks and gardens late in the evening.

She can start antihistamine drugs either oral tablets like Levocetrizine or nasal spray like azelast during acute attacks along with montelukast tablets. If it doesn't help, steroid nasal sprays like flunase can be used. Her treating doctor will know about these medications.

In addition, general measures such as plenty of fluids, a balanced diet containing fresh vegetables and fruits will help her fight allergens.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
Visit dermatology and allergy clinic....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is difficult to identify specific allergens. A dairy which I suggested in my earlier answer is one means to identify. Other possible means of identifying it is through skin patch / allergen test. Here small doses of different allergens are patched to the skin and it's reactions are noted. The test isn't performed in common laboratory / diagnostic centre. You may contact allergy clinics nearby you.

Hope this answered your question.
