Brief Answer:
A value of 73 is not very high (could be due to cholesterol lowering drugs)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing in to Ask a doctor 24x7.
I can understand your anxiousness given the SGPT values of 73.

However, what i would like to say is that the normal SGPT values are about 7-52U/l of serum.
Therefore , a value of 73 is not very high .
Increased levels of SGPT can show liver insult that can be a side effect of drugs used to lower cholesterol levels. However, for that the levels should increase 3 times the normal values for that which is not true in your case.

I would like to ask you if you have recently started taking Storvas (atorvastatin)? Also could you please share your reports of LFT, KFT and lipid profile so that we can guide you better.

As of now there is mild increase in SGPT levels . However, nothing to worry much about it. The LFT can be repeated after a month to check if the SGPT levels are increasing more. If yes then your physician might want to change the cholesterol lowering medication to another medication .

Hope I answered your query. Don't worry. Stay safe. Wish you good health.

Kindly do let us know with the answers of the questions asked above so that we can help you better.
