Question: My mother is diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma. 15 days ago, her uterus and complete reproductive system has been removed by gynecologist. After surgery was over doctor suggested for biopsy of entire uterus for confirmation. Please find report attached. Kindly suggest whether the outer layer is invaded? Is MRI required to be done? Whether there is any further risk in future? If yes, then what are the steps required. Thanks & Regards, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Further information is needed

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I need further information on biopsy report. You can ask the pathologist to review and tell whether perineural invasion is resent lymphovascular invasion is present.

If either of these is present then radiotherapy is required. If negative, then just observation. She will have prolong survival as tumor is very small.

MRI of abdomen is not required if done previously and no other site of tumor was present.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Only biopsy after surgery will help

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The tumor removed after surgery needs to be examined. Previous biopsy wont help. You can ask for blocks of post operative tissue and submit at any other reliable lab for more information. Ultrasound won't help.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you.
