Brief Answer:
She needs to undergo a brain scan.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your mother's clinical details. Based on this, she needs to undergo a CT scan of the brain. This would help us to find out the type of stroke- ischemic (due to lack of blood flow to the brain) or hemorrhagic (due to bleeding in the brain). This would help us in deciding the further treatment.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Brief Answer:
Seen the picture.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for uploading the picture.

It is most likely a pressure sore (due to constant pressure on the affected area) while lying down. There is also some bleeding in it, which could be because of blood thinners such as aspirin, she may be taking for stroke.

She needs to avoid pressure on the affected area. It should be kept clean to avoid any infection. Periodic position should be changed while sleeping/lying down.

if it does not heal or gets worse, an arterial doppler study should be done to ensure that the blood flow to the foot is normal.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM
