Question: My husband has an infected t9oth. He went to urgent care and they gave him an antibiotic to take twice a day and 800mg ibuprofen. Today is day 3 and the ibuprofen isn't helping him. This is our 3rd night of not sleeping. The pain is now shooting down his arm and hurting his hand. Should he go to the ER?

Brief Answer:
Yes, consult an Emergency room, detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for writing to us.

There is a possibility that you have an abscess in the tooth causing pressure over nerve endings causing pain.

So for now you can take him to Emergency room and get a painkiller shot.

Once you can get back to his Dentist you can consult and get the tooth treated with either Root canal treatment or extraction depending on condition of the tooth.

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
