Hello and welcome to "Ask A Doctor"

I have gone through your query. By the present values, it shows she is having diabetes.

I would like to know
- If this is the first time she is having high values?
- Does she feel tired, increased urination or thirst?
- When did she get tested? Was it done meticulously?
- Does she have any other diseases such as PCOD or irregular menses etc?

For these values, we usually start on oral hypoglycemic medications but we need to confirm before starting.

Awaiting your response. Please feel free to discuss further.

As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

So I would suggest waiting for at least 2 weeks to 1 month by dieting and exercise. She will have to totally avoid sweets, sugar, fruits, and rice for a month. Vegetables such as carrot and beetroot should also be avoided. Daily walking for half an hour in the morning and evening is a must. Let her not do any strenuous activities. Deep breathing exercises for 20 minutes twice daily will also help relieve stress. Drink plenty of water around 3 to 4 liters/day.

I would suggest multivitamin capsules Becadexamin once daily for 1 month.

Repeat test after 1 month. The blood test has to be done in the morning before drinking tea/coffee (fasting) and postprandial blood sugar test, 1.5 hours after breakfast.

You can check random blood sugar once a week to see if it is within 200 mg/dL then she will not require medicines and can be controlled by diet.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to discuss further.

Hi,

Yes, it is better she waits for a month and then re-assess. I would not suggest a gym that may strain her more as you told she is already losing weight. Walk and diet should be sufficient.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to discuss further.
