Brief Answer:
Not normal. Indicates inadequacy of breast feeding.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

A yellowish discoloration of urine along with increased odor indicates inadequacy of fluid intake. A child of this age should be exclusively breast fed. So, increasing the amount of breast feeding should resolve the problem.

Thanks!
My 5 month old baby demands to be breastfed every 5-6 hours, and is active. Do we need to increase this frequency?

Brief Answer:
The gap needs to be reduced

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update. The breast feeding needs to be given every 3-3.5 hours irrespective of whether the child is demanding feeds. You therefore need to give feeds sometime without waiting for the baby to demand.
