Missed Periods, Had Sex. Why Are Periods Irregular? Is This A Sign Of Pregnancy?
Question: My girl friend missed her period the last month. She generally has it between 20th-24th. We have had physical relationship in between once. This month also it got delayed but the period did come. But the period was only for 1-2 days. Why is this happening. She sometimes takes a bit of stress. Now why is this irregularity. whats going on. Is this a sign of pregnancy or some other disorder

You can do pregnancy test at home with the help of a kit.
Scanty periods can occur due to polycystic ovaries, hypothyroidism, anxiety, anemia and various other parameters. But as you were sexually involved in between it is necessary to rule out pregnancy, threatened or missed abortion.
You can plan for an ultrasound examination following urine pregnancy test. If these tests are normal thyoid function test and hemogram will clear the picture and guide us in planning the treatment.

Hi,
She has done the home pregnancy test and she was not pregnant according to that. Does it indicate other issues and cause like you mentioned such as anxiety e.t.c. She does get bit worried about day to day issues. Is it like implantation bleeding but we had gone physical on march 25th around.

Yes, there can be menstrual irregularities due to anxiety or hormonal disturbances like thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH etc.
Polycystic ovaries can also cause delayed periods.
Most important cause is anemia.
By treating the underlying cause she will have regular menses.
