Question: my husband has a goiter like lump by his ear. It is getting quite large, very painful and weeps. Can you please advise what it is and what it might be caused by?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The lump may be an abscess (collection of pus in a confined space) or a cyst , for example a sebaceous cyst (these are cysts whose origin are the glands within the skin).
Both of these require surgical treatment which normally involves incision and drainage (for the abscess) and excision (for the cyst). In addition antibiotics would be given.
It would be best, if possible, for you husband to visit his doctor for an assessment.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Doc! I was diagonised Keratin cyst on my vocal cords. Biopsy says that it is a benign one and I see good improvement by taking medicines and remedies such as steaming with turneric powder and absolute voice rest. Will the cyst which is hampering by voice, dissolve by itslef with these medicines and other remedies without surgery Pl advise. My ENT suggests I undergo a laser surgery.

i went to the er to have a doctor look at a bump at the base of my penis, but a little more to the right. He said it was an epidermoid cyst. It is bout the size of a pea n i can roll my finger under my skin to feel the sac im guessing. He prescribed me some antibiotics but its still there after i finished them last week. It is just a little smaller than what it was but it tends to get irritated when i keep rolling my finger under my skin to feel the bump. Is it better to have them do an injection into it, or is it better for them to jus cut it and get it??

I had a pimple/cyst under the skin on the inside of my thigh. I figured it was a cyst since there was no head. Over a couple days it grew a bit larger from the size of a dime to a quarter. I would feel around it and squeezed it a little, not so much to pop it there wasn t a head but to kind of feel what it was/get the texture. It hurt and then got even bigger, this time expanding out over another day till it was huge. Still under the skin, no head. I took a pin and tried to drain it (sterilized it with iodine wipe) and only blood came out, mostly dark and then some lighter blood. For the small hole it seemed like a lot of blood came out. I ve had cysts before and think it might just be another cyst but the rapid growth/size of it made me think it was something else. Anything ideas?
