In Type I Diabetes, it is important to know the carbohydrate content of a given meal.
This will determine the requirement of insulin to be taken with the meal to control the blood sugar.
Proteins and fats will also have an effect on the blood sugar. However, this will not rapidly change the blood sugar like carbohydrates.

Alcohol contains lot of empty calories, which will affect the blood sugar.

The amount of each food type you eat depends on your diet, weight, exercise and other health risk conditions.
That is why you need the help of a doctor and a dietician to do a meal plan that is personalized for that individual.

Hope it helps.
