Could A Blood Blister Like Spot On The Cervix Be Something Malignant?

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Apr 2021
Question: I’ve just been for my Pap test and the nurse noted a tiny dark spot on my cervix, almost like a blood blister in appearance she said. She called for a doc but they both said they’d never seen it before, I go back in 2 weeks for them to take another look. Although they tried to reassure me I’m freaking out. I’m worried it could be malignancy. Help!! What could it be?

Brief Answer:
Blood blister likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A tiny dark spot on the cervix is more likely to be a blood blister due to an injury rather than a pigmentation mark or a malignancy. A pigmentation of cervix is not heard of and malignancy is usually associated with an abnormal PAP smear and it bleeds to touch. This is likely to be a blood blister and will gradually decrease on its own. Going for a follow up will help in confirmation.
I hope this answers your query.
