What Would Cause Constipation After Drastically Changing One's Diet And Reducing One's Diabetes And Hypertension Medication?

Question: I've recently had BP problems (160+) and my dr upped my Lisinipril I'd been taking for about 7 years but I also totally changed my diet, eliminating must sugar (too many soft drinks), then my BP dropped too low (110+)! But we're working on "adjusting," he had me cut my 30 mg in half, closer to the 20 mg I'd taken for years and I WILL stay on my diet change. However, now I'm constipated, which makes sense, am using stool softeners and eating more fruit but still continues, obviously not only annoying but uncomfortable. Am I "stuck" with this after eliminating most sugar and eating more protein? I haven't have a gall bladder for about 30 years and was more likely to have to deal with the opposite problem.

Brief Answer:
Have Lactulose, high fiber diet

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
From the description, constipation appears to be an issue. This is likely related to your diet change.
For that, you should eat high fibre diet like fruits apple, banana, oranges, green leafy vegetables like spinach, raw cucumber. Avoid smoking, refined food, fatty and oily food. You should have plenty of fluids and regular exercises. This may not be helpful always, so you should also have syrup like lactulose 15-30 ml bedtime to maintain your stool soft. You may increase it twice a day for few days. Alternatively, you may have isabgol granules powder bedtime 2 teaspoons. Also, let me know, what stool softener you are having so that I can suggest some change.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
