I've Been Having Ocular Migraines That Last For About 72

Question: I've been having ocular migraines that last for about 72 hours and cause blind spots and sensitivity to light in my vision. I saw a doctor about it last year and was prescribed folic acid to help, but they're still happening quite a bit and especially when I drive. Should I go back to my eye doctor or to my actual doctor?

Brief Answer:
You need to consult a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your symptoms. You have features of ocular migraine/migraine with visual aura, for which you need medical treatment. The options include propranolol or topiramate, which would reduce the frequency and severity of these episodes. You should consult your neurologist.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
