Brief Answer:
Rotator cuff tear or arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Your description matches either of the two following diagnosis:

+Rotator cuff tear: Most commonly due to an injury
+Arthritis of the shoulder: Gradual degeneration either due to age, trauma, dislocation, improper management of previous injuries, etc.

I recommend an X-ray of the affected shoulder followed by an MRI scan of the region in order to confirm the diagnosis. You can also get an X-ray and send it over to me, and I can help you by reading it.

The primary treatment of mild forms of either of the above mentioned conditions is the following:

+Muscle strengthening exercises
+Physiotherapy
+Hot compress

If the above do not provide a significant amount of relief, then surgery to repair the rotator cuff tear or steroid injections into the shoulder for the arthritis may be recommended.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you, please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications or further information, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Could it also be some sort of Carpal tunnel syndrome as I sit and type all day at my desk and both shoulders are now affected..?

Brief Answer:
Carpal tunnel symptoms completely unrelated to your presentation sir

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

Carpal tunnel seems unlikely from your given presentation as carpal tunnel syndrome would present with pain and numbness around the wrist and a few of the fingers of the affected hand.

You have mentioned symptoms relating to your shoulder and that is completely unrelated to carpal tunnel syndrome sir. Your issue should most probably be a rotator cuff tear or arthritis.

Have you ever suffered any trauma/injury to the shoulder in speaking? A fall, bad sleeping posture, road traffic accident, sports injury, etc.?

I hope this helps sir. Please feel free to write to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Yes I have had problems with this new sleep number bed which is horrible.
It is a Calif King but split in-half so its like sleeping on a twin bed . If I sleep to the one side I'll fall off the bed so with my TV more to left side I have fallen asleep or watch TV on my left side 99% of the time and is painful until I get in a position that it doesn't hurt . This started about 3 months ago and has gotten worse . Could I have torn my rotator cuff from sleeping like this ?
Let me know
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Quite possible sir, recommend the scan and xray

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir and thank you for that information .

Yes, you could have damaged or torn your rotator cuff muscle(s). In view of the recent history provid3d, I strongly recommend both an x-ray and an MRI scan at the earliest in order to assess the degree of your condition and initiate treatment at the earliest. Please do physically consult an orthopedician with your test results.

I hope and pray you find relief at the earliest. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
