Posted on Tue, 10 May 2016
Question: My doctor has prescribed meloxicam 7.5 mg for me to take daily for my arthritis etc. Hubby and me have always enjoyed a glass of wine with our dinner. Is this safe for us to do - we're both diabetics. Thanks for your help. My email address is: YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Both can cause stomach and acidity problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the drug history you have shared, though these both doesn't have a direct interaction but pain medications may hurt your stomach from inside due to interference with acid production and so can alcohol and with combination chances gets increased many folds so it is better to avoid taking both simultaneously. You can either cut down the amount of wine you use or use them two hours apart though chances of stomach related side effects stay but comparitively lesser than taking both at a time. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
