Question: For Doc Rovena Murati

Hope you will be fine doctor. you can remember my case with my name . i was trying to reduce anxiety about hiv fear. doctor from last 2 months now my stomach is very much improved and i am having muscle twitching s also very less. Now i have still some questions and fears.
First i have told you about my sugar level which was before high but as per my last results these were near about 95 random blood sugar. doctor my question is if someone having such low level of sugar means he don't have diebaties.? or it might be temporary low sugar?
2nd as i told you now my big fear is about my weight loss .. before i was eating less due to diabetes fear. but after the low sugar result i start eating more. but after 2 months now still i look same. i am not checking my weight due to fear and as i have loss of weight in my last result. my face look weak . please tell me 2 months are enough to get more weight.? and please also tell me does hiv weight loss start in one year or its just due to fear stress and diabetes that i am having weak looks.
i dont have any weakness feeling. i can works same as before. i have no symptom of weakness. but only muscle twitching i feel sometimes. kindly reply me in details.
One last thingh that is giving me fear also. i have found a mark in my foot thumb nail. dark mark. once i have studied that hiv patients can have nail color change. is it true?

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I apologize for the late reply.

I am glad that you are feeling better and your symptoms are improved.

The fact that muscle twitching are improved means that most likely the cause was anxiety.
A blood sugar of 95 mg/dl means that you don't have Diabetes. It is not a temporary low sugar.

Regarding the weight loss ,it is very unlikely to be related to HIV.It is true that weight loss can be a symptom of HIV but this happens very late in the course of the disease,in the AIDS stage ,which happens many years after the infection.
If you have a constant weight, you have nothing to worry about.Even if you eat well and your weight is the same ,it doesn't mean something is wrong. This depends from your metabolism.Stress and anxiety can also affect the weight.

In my opinion you should get a HIV test done.I am sure it will be negative and knowing it for sure will put your mind at rest. This can decrease your anxiety and improve your symptoms.
The fact that your symptoms in all these months are getting better ,there are no new symptoms ,indicates that most likely they are triggered by stress. They are not related to a specific organic condition.

There are many causes for a change in the nails color. It is not a sign of HIV.
Can you please send a picture of this mark in your nail so I can evaluate it?

Hope it helps.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena
