Is Wearing Flipper After Bone Graft And Dental Surgery Safe?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: So I am trying to decide between a bridge and a implant .. The tooth being removed due to resorption is number 13 on the top ..does this ever affect the sinuses? Also they want to do a bone graft first is this necessary .. Are there more health risks with a bone graft? Can I wear the flipper tooth right after the extraction ? Thanks! I just worry about them putting titanium into my bone

Brief Answer:
Implants and bridge, biocompatible, upload the radiographs

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the bridge and the implant is concerned, for you to go for a bridge the adjacent teeth needs to be trimmed little to take support from them and those teeth should be strong(should have sufficient bone support). If the adjacent teeth are not strong then you cannot go for bridge.
Regarding implants, here a screw type material is placed by drilling the bone. If the bone height is not sufficient then bone grafting has to be done.
Pacing implant is a surgical procedure where as bridge is a non surgical procedure. If you have diabetes or smoking habit then the success rate with implants is less.
Nothing to worry about Placing implants or graft because all these are biocompatible materials.
I have explained you the indications of both the implant and bridge based on this you can chose your treatment.
Better not to wear the flipper tooth till the wound heals.
If you can upload the images of the radiographs I can give you a better treatment plan.
I hope I have answered your question. If you have any queries reply me back. Take care.

Did you receive my xray? Will this implant affect my sinuses? How long does it take for a wound to heal before I can wear the flipper..is this affecting my health by leaving this tooth in? Can it affect inflammation markers in the blood? Thanks again!

Brief Answer:
Computed tomograph(CT), Cone beam computed tomography(CBCT), Flipper tooth

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
I have gone through the images of the radiographs. This radiograph(X ray) will not tell the amount of bone available for implant placement. You need to get a CT or CBCT scan done.
Nothing to worry about sinus issues. Based on the amount of bone available, the implants will be selected.
Regarding retaining that tooth, if it gets infected then you will have pain and swelling so better to get it removed and replaced. The infection will not change your markers in the blood.
You can use the flipper tooth after 7 days of tooth removal.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back.
Take care.
