Is Vaginal Spotting A Menopausal Symptom?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Sep 2017
Question: Hello. Just wanted to ask a few questions. I've been experiencing menopausal symptoms lately and I had not been having a period. The last period I had was maybe 6- 8 months ago. Well, I stared spotting around July 4th or so and I thought it would stop within 5- 6 days but I've been spotting (and I've had this mental body order as well) since then. In past, I did have a surgery for fibroids but that was 7 years ago. Could that be my issue? This is causing great concern. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Exact diagnosis should be made

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.

Menopause is said to be attained when there is one year of the menstruation free interval.

Sometimes, irregular spotting and bleeding can occur when one is in perimenopausal period.

However, other causes like local lesions in the cervix or vagina, any fibroid or polyp and premalignant and malignant lesions should be ruled out.

I will suggest you consult an OBGYN specialist for proper examination, pap smear, ultrasound and get further treatment accordingly.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Along with this issue, I also have an issue with urinating. I constantly feel the urge to have to urinate and when I do go, my urine seems as if it comes out in squirts and it is cut off and stops. I still feel the urge to continue to urinate, but nothing flows. I end up siting on the toilet until the remainder comes out or it doesn't then, I'm constantly running back and forth to the restroom. I usually squirt a little urine again, not feeling as if I've fully emptied my bladder. The cycle continues. It does the same thing when I have to make a bowel movement. I feel there's a problem with both! I can be sitting having a bowel movement, then I have the urge to urinate when I should be having a bowel movement (and vice versa). I feel like things too are out of order with urinating and having a bowel movement. It seems things are out of sync! Is there a solution to this issue as well?

Brief Answer:
Neurological problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, It seems that you are having hesitancy in urine which can be because of urinary tract infection or some neurological problem.
I will suggest you to consult a neurologist for proper examination and treatment accordingly.
Both bowel and urine abnormalities seem related to the neurological problem.
