Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: Hi doc.
My case is bit weird. I am trying to conceive. Unfortunately somethng goes wrong. Underwent hsg test n found my tubes to be clear. My gyn after ultrasound said I have few minor cysts which is not serious. And she prescribed me with fertyl 50mg. Checked my hormones. It was normal. My hubby's test was also normal. Went to follicular study and the three dominant follicles which ruptured on 13th day of my cycle. Now am in my 32nd day. After follicle rupture doc prescribed me to take naturogest n duphaston. Naturogest is over now. But continuing with duphaston. Two monts bback had similar kind of exp, unfortunately I got my periods wen I stopped duphaston. Please clear my doubt. Why is this happening. Is there any harm ib taking duphaston? And if I stop will it trigger my periods? How can I find out if am pregnant. Coz this waiting period is killing me. Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Continue medicines for 15 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. You need to continue medicines only for 15 days after follicles rupture. Continuing beyond this time has no use. There is no harm in continuing but of no use if no pregnancy.

2. If you are pregnant stopping duphaston will not trigger abortion. As I said there is no use or harm in continuing beyond this time.

3. Best way to find out if you are pregnant is by doing serum beta hCG blood test which will confirm pregnancy. This test needs to be done about 15 days after follicles rupture.

4. Serum beta hCG blood test is most confirmatory test for pregnancy.

5. Though all of your and husband's reports arw normal success of pregnancy in any cycle is about 10 to 20 percent only. There is no 100 percent guarantee.

One week after missed periods

Detailed Answer:
Hi

You can do pregnancy test one week after missed periods.

You can stop duphaston now. If you are pregnant also nothing harmful will happen by stopping it.
