Question: Hi, my 6 3/4 yr old son has the habit of running from one side of the room & it is obvious that he is thinking! I have brought this to his dr.'s attention & they said it is ok. Today he saw a clip on TV & the kid on TV was seeing a lot of words & numbers in his head & my son jumped off the chair and said mom that is what I see when I walk around and you ask me what I'm doing? I'm really worried for him!

Brief Answer:
Its normal.

Detailed Answer:
hello thanks for posting in healthcaremagic,

The habit that you have described is totally normal. Children have vast dream like world where they live and play. They like imaginative play and also learn a lot through this play. They also love roleplay where they see themselves as engineer scientist artist and they sink into the dream world trying to get the feel of the grown ups.

Thus the behaviour is normal and also beneficial for the child. Actually intelligent children does these more. It is more helpful if he can involve friends in the play too.

thank you.
