Is Sabu Safe During Pregnancy?

Question: Hello Dr. Patra,

Thanks a lot for providing clarification on Neem-Begun. After this incident it has been a fobia to me, now I am checking for almost all foods in internet that I am taking whether that is safe or not in pregnancy. But I have not able to find any satisfactory answer in internet on sabu. Can you please suggest whether sabu can be taken during pregnancy?

First thing, you try to calm down to avoid your phobia & mental stress on food stuffs. You have nothing to worry on sabudana.

It is quite healthy and nutritious with easy digestible. It is XXXXXXX source of pure carbohydrate with little amount protein, vitamin-C, Calcium & minerals. Calorie value per 100 gram dry sabudana is 355 Kcal. You take this only one time in day time as there is very low amount of protein and it should not be your main dish (lunch or dinner).

You can easily take sabudana with hot milk or water with adding some sugar to taste. Home made recipes like sabudana khichdi, kheer, bread or pancakes from sago flour are some delicious dishes which can be taken during pregnancy.
