Brief Answer:
Early weaning with semi solids should not be a problem

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me remark that once you introduce top feeds, the production of breast milk automatically comes down. The production of breast milk is dependent on the hunger of the baby. The hungrier the baby, the more she sucks, and more she sucks, more is the amount of breast milk produced. Try to do only with breast milk and its production would automatically increase. The adequacy would reflect in the number of times urine is passed. If the frequency is greater than 6 times over 24 hours, the feed is adequate. Anyway, if breast milk is inadequate, it needs to be supplemented with either formula feeds like NAN 1 Pro or or semi solids like Nestum, Cerelac or ragi kanji etc. Early weaning with semisolids as you are giving, is acceptable and can be done. You can give these at this stage. In fact, formula milks are mostly cow milk based and hence difficult to digest. Hence, introducing semisolids is not a bad idea. Nestum or Cerelac are easy to make preparations, but if you are willing, a home made semisolid diet is perhaps much better. I would prefer a rice based preparation. You can boil rice along with pulses and vegetables and give it in a mashed form.

The weight gain seems proper and I would not worry. The birth weight is expected to double by 5 months and triple by 8-10 months.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Rice based preparations are preferrable.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Whether it is Cerelac or Nestum, does not matter but I would prefer the rice based preparations like Cerelac Rice or Nestum Rice.
About which biscuit, once again, it does not matter so long as it is properly softened and mashed.
