Is Pregnancy The Reason For Delayed Period And Slight Bleeding Right After Intercourse?
( the day I was supposed to start) me and my boyfriend had sex... he finished since we are trying to have a baby, and afterwards I went to the bathroom and blood came out along with cum.. like the blood was light/bright red kinda in a discharge form... could the doctors have a false test? Also the 2 weeks befofe all of this I had the flu, and a couple of infections so I was taking tamflu, promethazine-(Phenagen), And Azithromycin, Metronidazole (antibiotics for infections) Could these medications cause problems? Not able to get pregnant or false positive? Why the blood work be negative too? Why did I have blood after sex? Could I still be pregnant?
Repeat urine and blood hCG testing if you do not get your period in a week.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since you have missed periods of 2 to 3 days only, it's too early even if you are pregnant. Testing too early can provide false negative results. It is better to wait for one more week. If you do not get your periods in the next week, repeat home pregnancy test and blood hCG (pregnancy testing).
The medications you mentioned will not affect conception or pregnancy.
Spotting after intercourse can occur due to several reasons including pregnancy, vaginal infection (will be associated with vaginal pain, itching and discharge) or friction associated with rough intercourse. Please be advised to wait for few more days and repeat pregnancy test.
Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.

Testing early can cause such problems
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Testing too early can cause such discrepancies in the test results. It is not due to any defect in the test.
Please repeat the pregnancy test if you do not start menstruating in a week. The test is likely to provide accurate results after waiting for at least 6-8 days after missed period.

Repeat blood pregnancy test
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since you are scheduled to follow up for IUD implantation on Thursday, blood hCG (pregnancy) test will definitely be done before the procedure. If you do not get your periods by Thursday and still the pregnancy test is negative, a pelvic ultrasound needs to be done to rule out pregnancy.
Please be advised to follow up with your OBGYN as scheduled.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Both the blood and urine test shows negative pregnancy result. The pregnancy test measures the amount of Beta hCG (pregnancy hormone) in blood and urine. The pregnancy hormone gradually increased during early stages of pregnancy. That is why testing early can provide negative results even in pregnant women. As I mentioned in the above discussion, the best option is to wait and retest so that there is adequate time for beta hCG to rise.

Please be advised to do quantitative blood beta hCG testing
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
From what you described, I believe that you haven't got your periods yet and the bleeding you are referring to is the spotting that occurred before.
7 to 10 days of missed period is early. One thing that can be done is to test for quantitative beta hCG levels. If the level seem to have increased from previous result then the test can be repeated every 3-4 days until positive results are obtained.
If quantitative beta hCG is not showing rising trend, then pelvic USG need to be done to assess uterus and ovaries.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thank you.
