Brief Answer:
She may not get pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks again for writing and for your question.

The probabilities of pregnancy are rare with this type of sexual activity.

She had I-Pill also within 72 hrs. Which further decreases the probabilities of her to get pregnant. (I-pill is 86% effective if consumed within 48 hrs.of unprotected sex)

Hence please do not worry about it and wait and watch for withdrawal bleeding.

If she will not get withdrawal bleeding wait for her next period if she missed her menses for 7 days (the chances are rare) then she should go for a home urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to assist you.

Do safe sex in future.

Good luck.

Brief Answer:
She may not get pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you all again.

Equally we have discussed before that in your scenario the chances of pregnancy are almost negligible.

Because this type of sexual activity will not cause pregnancy and as she had I-pill also within time then the chance of pregnancy almost zero.

So please do not worry about that.

Wait and watch for her period.

Feel free to discuss more, if want to ask more question, I feel happy to aid you.

Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply. Doctor i am very much relieved after your reply but thr is one thing disturbing me like u mentioned keep a watch on her periods and you also mentioned If she will not get withdrawal bleeding wait for her next period if she missed her menses for 7 days (the chances are rare) then she should go for a home urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. Since u mentioned no chances of pragnency at all, then why to keep a watch on her periods? And if periods gets delayed then why to do pragnency test? As she has taken the ipill already. I also read ipill is 86% effective ,so is thr 14% change for her to be pragnent? Please help me doctor

Brief Answer:
No contraceptive method is 100% effective.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can definitely understand your concern.

I said so because no method of contraception gives 100% protection from pregnancy. I asked you to keep a watch on her periods because Ipill can fail in 14% of the cases. If by this chance or percent, she misses her periods, then there are chances that she can be pregnant. So I have asked to do the home urine pregnancy test.

Yes, there is 14% chancee for her to be pregnant.

Hence I want to inform you about every aspect of your problem.

However, it is very unlikely that she will get pregnant. She should get her withdrawal bleeding sooner.

Hope it is useful, feel free to discuss more.

Good luck.

Brief Answer:
It can be withdrawal bleeding due to I-pill.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Nice to receive word from you all again.

This bleeding is a side effect of I-pill called withdrawal bleeding.

It is not an implantation bleeding because in implantation spotting occurs in 2-3 days no proper period bleeding (as in your example).

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.

Brief Answer:
Withdrawal bleeding is only a side effect of I-pil

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Here are the answers to your queries.

- Withdrawal bleeding is only a side effect of I-pill, it does not rule out that one will not get pregnant later on it. (do not worry as in your case the chances of pregnancy is virtually nil).

- Implantation bleeding usually occurs 6-12 days after conception and near to the menstrual cycle.
- It is usually a very light bleeding or spotting for a few days, normally dark in color associated with mild abdominal cramps.
- Sometimes other symptoms of early pregnancy also associated with it like dizziness, fatigue, nausea, mood swings and breast soreness.

Hope your query is clear now, please free to ask more.

Good luck.

Doctor I would like to tell you the pattern of her withdrawal bleeding.
7 Oct- very light or spotting bleeding
8 Oct- heavy bleeding with pain (pain slightly higher compared to pain during period)
9 Oct- heavy bleeding with less pain
10 Oct- light bleeding
11 Oct- light bleeding

She told me it is exactly same as her period bleeding pattern.

She did urine pregnancy test twice on 12 Oct, it was negative.

Does she need to have pregnancy test again?

Doctor I have consulted a few more gynecologist online here, they told me this withdrawal bleeding is early menstruation or induced period due to ipill

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is true.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

With your description it can be a withdrawal bleeding or early menses due to an I-Pill.

At present there is no need of repeat pregnancy test, she should go for pregnancy test only when she will be overdue by 8 days for her next menses.

Hope it is clear your doubt.

Good luck.

Doctor I am confused after reading your follow answers.

You mentioned wait and watch for her withdrawal bleeding and if she will not get withdrawal bleeding wait for her next period and if she missed her menses for 7 days then she should go for a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy . You even mentioned she should get her withdrawal bleeding sooner.

1.Since now withdrawal bleeding has occurred as per your prediction so what else is left? Because what I understood from your answer is that she will be safe if she gets withdrawal bleeding.

2.When can she expect her next period, will it be in Oct or Nov?

Doctor please answer in detail

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal (4 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Her next period may be in October or nov.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you again.

Please do not get confuse withdrawal bleeding with pregnancy.

Withdrawal bleeding is only a side effect of I- pill due to withdrawal of high dosage of hormone. (Which is present in I-pill).

I know the chances of pregnancy are as such nil in your case but I said go for a urine pregnancy test after 7 days missed period because it is important to rule out pregnancy because no method is 100% effective.

Hence please do not get confused her period will come in October or may be in November because sometimes it may delay due to I-pill.

Hope your query is clear now, if further question, feel free to ask more, I will be glad to help you.

Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa
