Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Oral Contraceptive?

Posted on Thu, 26 May 2016
Question: Hi there,
Approx 3.5 weeks ago on Thurs 25th Feb I had a surgical abortion. The next day I started birth control pills (Brenda 35-ED). I had unprotected sex on Day 8 (Sun March 6th) after the abortion, and by that day had taken 8 of the hormone pills. I believed that after 7 days of taking the hormone pill I would be protected against pregnancy (as per advice from the clinic). Yesterday according to my pill packet I should have got my period. I understand that my period may not return for 4-8 weeks post abortion, however I took a pregnancy test and although VERY faint a second line still appeared.
What are the chances I could have fallen pregnant again??

Thank you. I feel ever so slightly nauseous. Could this be due to the fact I should have my period now so my body is going through the motions but no physical blood yet due to the abortion? Or perhaps it's anxiety from worrying!?

Brief Answer:
Could be due to anxiety and hormonal changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Nausea could be due to anxiety or hormonal changes.
But if you will not resume your menses then get your ultrasound test to rule out the cause.
Hope found useful.
Good luck.
