Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Oral Contraceptive?

default
Posted on Fri, 14 Aug 2015
Question: i had unprotected sex on Saturday 27th of XXXXXXX and also on sunday 28th of XXXXXXX 2015 (it was the last 2 days of my period). so i took an contraceptive on Monday, 29th of XXXXXXX morning because i miss calculated my ovulation day. 3 days after i noticed i started bleeding? pls what does it mean?
i bled for a week, it was like i was on my normal period again, so yesterday, the 22nd of July, i took a pregnancy test and it was negative, although i am to see my period tomorrow, but i keep feeling wet like am already on my period but when i check i see no blood, so i was thinking maybe the pill disrupted my cycle, so i still expect my period this month or i should wait till August?

Brief Answer:
You should get periods this month.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Having sex on the last two days of the period is the less fertile period of the cycle/. So the chances of conception are less. The bleeding that you had one week after taking the contraceptive is likely to be due to the effect of the pill. The pregnancy usually does not come positive until your periods are overdue.
You are supposed to get your periods in next 4-5 days. In case the periods are delayed it is best to test your urine again to rule out pregnancy. The contraceptive pills can disrupt the normal cycle.
