Brief Answer:
Sperm can be viable for 5 days in female genital tract.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Chances of getting pregnant if you ejaculate inside 7 days before ovulation is extremely low. Sperm can be viable till 5 days. Within these days ovulation occurs then fertilisation is possible.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

It is based on old study that y chromosome sperm swim faster and last lesser time. According to it if you want boy child then intercourse after 2 days of ovulation may help.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Yes, 7 to 8 days before or after ovulation is a big gap to conceive. After or before 7 days of ovulation is considered as safe period for not to conceive.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
