Brief Answer:
Less likely cancerous. It could be a cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

It appears that the swelling may be a fibrous one and not bony.

This could be a bag of fluid called a Ganglion cyst. It may require surgery to decompress and excise the cyst. The bone in that region appears to be weaker but I cannot say that there is excess growth of the bones by looking at the Xray alone.

Not to worry. Kindly do get an ultrasound of that swelling to see if it is a Ganglion cyst of any other fibrous swelling.

There does not appear to be any kind of bony growth in the Xray. It is less likely to be cancerous unless he has been having pain in that region before falling down and getting hurt.

The ultrasound shall put most of your fears to rest. A biopsy can be done as well to confirm.

I would recommend you to take your father to Bombay Hospital in XXXXXXX as some of the best Orthopaedic surgeons in the country are there.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
It is an infection mostly. No tumor or cancer according to MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for uploading the reports.

There is no cancer or tumor according to the reports but some fluid collection which usually occurs in certain bone infection or inflammation.

A course of antibiotics after taking a biopsy to find out the culprit microorganism causing the infection will suffice. Need to rule out common bacteria and Tuberculosis as possible causes. The biopsy will confirm the diagnosis.

Nothing to worry. It's not life threatening. But a biopsy needs to be done to find out the kind of infection. After that the appropriate Medicine can be given to kill the infection.

Thank you so much for making us relax...The process is little slow.. Will it affect my father ...is it late or early stage of infection? Do I need to go to some other specialist like infection specialist after all test is done... as the doc was saying it's a rare infection ..and they hardly have such patient... Again it's troubling me...Please suggest me what should I do?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry. Get the biopsy to find the kind of infection

Detailed Answer:
It is better to get the biopsy done first to find out what kind of infection it is. Once you find out, I will advise where you need to go to.

Brief Answer:
Infection of the soft tissue near the bone. Not a bone tumour

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

I have reviewed the reports.

It appears that there was an infection with bacteria in that region in the wrist. The bone does not appear to be involved much.

He needs to take the course of antibiotics as mentioned in the report to which he is sensitive to. After the antibiotic course he should find relief. Nothing to worry. It is not cancer or any tumor. Just infection.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
