Question: hello my name is XXXX I'm a smoker but have been trying to stop so I have been sick with sinus problems and cough but I found that when I brushed my teeth today the back of my mouth hurt a bit . I'm a scared person anyways about dying bit there is like a cut looking gash in the back of my gum like . I grind teeth I'm not sure if I hit it with my tooth brush or what . there's nothing coming out of it . it's not inflamed it's a little sore that's all

I have gone through the photo thoroughly and understood your problem.

The pale piece of tissue behind the last lower molar is the normal mucosa. Don't worry! It is not a sign of cancer. This looks pale because of the constant pressure it gets from both the jaws.

This is not related to any sinus issues.

1. Drink plenty of warm water.
2. If pain is more, you can try OTC pain relievers.
3. Also, antiseptic mouth gargles are beneficial.
