Brief Answer:
Oral yeast would not last for 5weeks. I am not sure of the diagnosis!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this oral yeast infection that you have reported, Oral candidosis would normally be treated with a week of antifungals like daktarin oral gel. This lasting more than 5weeks raise serious concerns if this is for real the right diagnosis. Your recent exposure to oral sex could not have caused immunodepression to explain this. If possible, I will suggest that you upload an image to me for review as well.

For now, the cocktail of medications is too much and I would actually suggest you talk to your doctor and take a break off all these antifungals and lee’s understand what is going on.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
These drugs are able to treat any fungal infection of the mouth!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for these updates. Fungal of the mouth is diagnosed by examining the mouth. It normally produces a white coating of the tongue and oral cavity. However, it would not take this long to be treated. Because it is not responding to treatment promptly, I will suggest that your doctors re-evaluate and make sure the diagnosis is right and not something else.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and always available for further exchanges if need be.

Brief Answer:
For 5weeks on drugs already, I would say the medicines!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

5 weeks is too much for any oral fungal infection. My advise is to stop all medications as they might be responsible for your symptoms. This would allow us to be able to review your treatment without the effects of any possible drugs interference.

I would say, no one dies from oral fungal. Relax and ask your doctors what they think about suspending treatment to evaluate and adjust accordingly.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
2weeks is for immunocompromised patients and for esophageal fungal!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

2weeks is for immune compromised persons and this most oftn in the case of esophageal candidosis. The most common symptom of esophageal candidosis is pains during swallowing. Am not sure this is what you have.

I am not a fan of patients changing physicians often. I will suggest you stick with your doctor and ask him what he plans on doing seen the fact that the infection is taking longer than usual to be treated.

If you must see another doctor, then I recommend you see an infectious disease specialist.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
It would not harm your liver: very slim chances!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Can you upload an image of your tongue for review? Without the image, I may not be able to provide answers to what the possible cause is. However, no oral candidosis would go for 6weeks and not be treated. Something doesn’t sound right and needs to be looked into.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Oral thrush is not an STD!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have not received any image. Please check to make sure it was correctly uploaded. Oral thrush s not a classified as an STD. I am of the thinking that rather many drugs and oral gels have caused all of these problems of why amoxicillin could be one. That is why I am for a halt to all of these medications.

When Ii review the image, I’ll get back to you with more information.

And also my doctor did not give any restriction on foods to eat just not to eat hot and spicy foods. But im not eating sweets another question is this oral thursh if not treated will not turn into candidisis overgrowth?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Chobufo Ditah (21 hours later)
Brief Answer:
There is no need for food restriction here!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the images. Thanks for uploading them

The back of the mouth looks to have some whitish spots. These are suggestive of oral candidiasis. However, I recommend you stop the ongoing treatment and let’s understand what is happening. Candidiasis is rarely resistant to this extend. Also, seeing an infectious disease doctor for more assessment would be another option to explore.

These spots on the lips need no specific treatment. I would say, monitoring is all that is required as most would resolve spontaneously.

I wish you well and always available to respond to your concerns.
