Is Numbness In Wrist Normal When Diagnosed With Osteoarthritis Of The Wrist?
Question: I was I was told by a hand specialist that I have synovitis and tenosynovitis of the forearm and primary osteoarthritis of the wrist, he did x-rays and ultrasound of the wrist and this was his conclusion, my question is will this condition cause numbness? Are the nerves being affected by swelling and will it affect my elbow and shoulder nerves?

There is a possibility that you may be getting numbness as a result of the wrist swelling.
The nerve gets compressed as a result of pressure coming from the fluid collected in the wrist space.
taking a steroid injection to reduce the swelling, or sometimes wearing splints for the same should alleviate your problem.
It should not affect your elbow or shoulder as such, however if the primary process i.e the osteoarthritis is also affecting other joints as sometimes happens in primary generalised osteoarthritis, it can.
