Posted on Thu, 14 Jul 2016
Question: Hi,

I had a protected intercourse in October 2015, i did ELISA test during feb 2016, it resulted as Negative. Again in April 2016, i tested for the same by using tri dot, result - Negative.
But from last 2-3 weeks there are few rashes ( fluid filled by seeing them) developing on my face (forehead, neck), Back. I just want to know about the accuracy of my previous tests. If required i'll mail my reports also.

Brief Answer:
The accuracy is 100% after 3 months.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM.

I have received the attached reports. The accuracy and reliability of tri-dot and ELISA test is 100% after 3 months because window period for HIV also varies from 15 days to 3 months so don't get worried about HIV because you are absolutely safe and there is no possibility of infection at all.

Fluid filled rashes on forehead and neck might be due to exposure to extreme heat or other bacterial or fungal infection. Consult dermatologist to isolate the cause and follow the treatment regime as per the advice. If still any query left in your mind feel free to ask me any time.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
You can go for STD panel test.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back an thanks for follow-up.

If you want to rule out the possibility of STDs then go for STD panel test because there are many test for each STD and panel will include single reliable test for each STD so unnecessary burden of blood tests will be eliminated and the cost also reduced.

The tests included in the panel are for diagnosis of herpes, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and vdrl etc. I don't think any possibility of STD but get tested for ur satisfaction and get back to me with result.

You can go for viral culture or polymerase chain reaction for herpes, fluorescent treponemal antibody absorbent or rapid plasma reagin test for syphilis along with swab from genital area for chlamydia and gonorrhea for culture and antigen detection or you can also prefer urine test.

Thank You
