Is Muscle Pain In Right Hip During Pregnancy A Concern?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Sep 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am 8 weeks pregnant. I am having some muscle pain on right hip side. Actually I had an injury around 15 years ago. But this pain exaggerates either in winter or too much driving. But these days it hurts almost daily. Sometimes feels difficulty in walking. Is it ok to use hot water bottle and pain relief sprays? I hope they are not harmful to baby. Please suggest if anything else I can do. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
It's safe.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,

If you are experiencing paining the right hip which is definitely not pregnancy related, you may use hot fomentation for the pain along with local pain relief spray which can work as a counter irritant. Considering the skin absorption works locally and there is no blood absorption, baby remains safe completely.
