Yes, this is a valvular heart disease. It's severity varies from patient to patient & so does the symptoms & prognosis.
Hope you have been seen by a cardiologist to evaluate your heart function & to find out any treatment you may need.
Having metformin use & you may safely use it, if prescribed by your doctor. It is not likely to cause heart damage.
