Is Local Anesthesia Administered To Patients Before An Angiography?
Question: Are patients usually sedated for an angiogram? I have had multiple biopsies and most have involved more pain than I could handle. I don't wish to be aware of the upcoming procedure if possible. Thanks for your response.

The urologist that did my prostate biopsy a year ago brushed aside my concerns and essentially downplayed the level of pain. When he penetrated the wall of the rectum my pain level went up to 10 over 10 and I had trouble staying still. The doctor chewed me out and humiliated me. I did make it throught the procedure after he infiltrated the area more fully with a local. No cancer.
Some testimonials I have read indicate angiograms can be painful, not for everyone but for a minority. I am probably in that category, after going through 5 different biopsies and dlitations in the past. I really get overwhelmed by anxiety.
I realize that it is up my cardiologist whether to use sedatives, but is there some way I can present my case favorably to him? Any suggestions?
