Is It Safe To Use Antoxid HC Cap And Kovite-active For Lip Discoloration?

Question: Hi Doctor,

My wife is facing a problem of Lips Discolouration. To go back a little, it was started with tiny pimples on and around her lips which slowly started increasing. She has often complained for itching in those pimples. We had consulted a doctor and he has prescribed certain medicines (I don't remember the names though). Now, we have not noticed pimples from past few months or so but the colour of her lips has changed, kind of blueish grey or blueish black. We again consulted a doctor and this time he has prescribed the following medicines:
Antoxid HC Cap
Kovite-Active
Topcort
Also, suggested to mix Kovite-Active and Topcort and apply this on the lips before going to sleep. I am not sure:

1) is it safe using the prescription?
2) what exactly the problem is?
3) is it possible to recover from the discolouration problem?
4) what are the chances that the problem will not happen any time soon?
5) any precautions?
6) anything which we or she should avoid?
7) any prescription you suggest?

Any additional inputs please. She don't smoke and don't drink. She is a die hard fan of Revlon and Lakme especially their lips products. As she is not able to use the products because of the problem; you can imagine the kind of pressure on me to get her treated :) Women and makeup you know. Please help.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
sunscreen lip balm

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photographs,
I understand your concern.
I will try to answer your queries in order.
1. The prescription is safe and can be used for 4 to 5 months continuously.
2. Her lip has more melanin pigment hence this dark coloration.
3. This problem can be controlled but I cant say that it can be totally treated.
4. She can use a sunscreen containing lip balm. suncroma is a good lip balm. She can also take lycopene capsule daily for a month. This is a natural sunscreen.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
