Question: I'm 19 weeks pregnant..I hv ear blockage n doctor prescribed be with ambroxol hydrochloride 30mg twice a day.is it safe to use during pregnancy

Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. is advisable to avoid Ambroxol if at all possible.

Ambroxol is a pregnancy category C drug which means that it is better to avoid using it during the first trimester of pregnancy.

I would rather insist you to go for steam inhalation thrice daily and it will have equal or better effect than what ambroxol would have given.
