Is It Safe To Take Nyquil Over Cocaine?
Question: I did some cocaine around 4am, now I can't sleep... Is it safe to take NyQuil?

I have read your query and understood that you had cocaine, after which you are not able to sleep and you want to take nyquil.
Nyquil is cough syrup or cold medicine which contains acetamenophen, dextromethorphan, pseudoephedrine and doxylamine. Dextromethorphan is a opioid drug which suppresses cough and also cause sedation. You already had cocaine, so I feel that it is not safe enough to take nyquil over cocaine. Cocain e and dextromethorphan is from same class of opioid drugs. I would not recommend use of both the drugs together in my patients.

Cocaine and dextromethorphan-doxylamine both increases the level of serotonin in blood and brain apart from other effects. High serotonin level can cause anxiety, increased heart beat and blood pressure. In severe case it can lead to shock.
Cocaine and dextromethorphan both are respiratory depressant drugs. So combining both of them can cause respiratory difficulties. It would not be wise to take dextromthorphan over cocaine.
